The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye), was born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Canada. The Weeknd is one of the leading alternative R&B performers in the US. Abel is the son of two Ethiopian immigrants. When Abel first began his music journey, some of his influences varied from traditional Ethiopian music to popular music artist, Michael Jackson.

He went on to work with various popular artists like Drake, Wiz Khalifa and Calvin Harris. All while building his own music career as an artist. One of the Weeknd's early big success' came from his album, "Beauty Behind the Madness" which won a grammy in 2015.
